When you think of jewelry what tends to come to mind? Diamonds ….? Though diamonds are a girls best friend, there are some other stones that can make you want to get a new best friend.

I have a very high fondness for turquoise and have been inspired as of late to wear a lot of it via my jewelry. The opaque blue-green mineral has been used as such for centuries by numerous cultures that have participated in showcasing the beauty of the stone.

Turquoise is a great stone because it looks great set in either gold or silver. It also ages very well and in fact you can find some of the best pieces vintage. In modern fashion Ralph Lauren has made quite a few cool turquoise pieces especially in his RRL and Denim & Supply collections.
