Wool is traditionally always worn in the Fall and Winter months but if you ever get that urge to pool the heavy fleece material out during the sunny season it is possible.
Wool pieces are great because of the texture that is showcased in the fabric, not to mention the cool patterns that can be achieved with the fabric. Some of my closets most unique pieces have wool elements.
Here are a few suggestions when wearing wool during the Summer:
- Choose a thinner wool: Wool does look cool but when it’s 100 degrees its kind of hard to function in a heavy wool garment….
- Only wear 1 wool piece at a time: Whether you choose to wear a wool tie, shirt, blazer, sports coat, pants, or hat.. choose 1 or 2 garments please don’t walk outside with a head to toe wool outfit.
- Make a statement: Since you are sacrificing some function with it being a warmer item in the Summer make sure it say something BIG.
- Make sure it fits: Since wool traps more heat make sure that their isn’t a ton of extra fabric and room for the warm temperature to get caught under.
In these photos my wool selection is a light wool sports coat with a detailed pattern accented with a burgundy pocket square and a simple white button up. On my lower half i am wearing a skinny fit black jean with a narrow dress shoe. The key to this outfit is simplicity with a pop of flare.
