Don’t Overdo Your Easter Sunday Outfit (PLEASE)

Easter has forever been that holiday in which those who attend church feel the necessity to pull out their finest garments in honor of the celebration. Unfortunately if you’re not careful you may end up looking like you should be celebrating Halloween and not Easter…

For some reason men decide they want to look like clowns with overly large and colorful Steve Harvey (back in the day) suits, including 100 buttons (like 2 or 3 won’t keep it buttoned) and ladies decide to wear headdresses with an entire flower patch on them..

Nothing is wrong with an Easter themed suit or hat but what we must understand is there is a right and wrong way to do this..

The key word to remember when dressing for the occasion is SIMPLICITY. I mean.. chose 1 easter color to wear like a variation of pink, purple, pastel green, or yellow (not all 4 colors at once). Also This color shouldn’t be the predominate color of your outfit but rather an accent, meaning a tie, socks, a pocket square, cufflinks, or even a hat.

Another key word to remember is FIT. The perception of an outfit can drastically change based on the way it fits. Gentlemen please, please, please go get your suit tailored and remove all but 2 or 3 buttons… This will make all the difference as there is nothing worse than an overly colored and baggy suit with 4 plus buttons.

In this outfit I am being festive but in a subtle way. I am wearing seersucker which is a very spring/summer fabric seeing that it’s a bit lighter in weight and color than traditional fabrics used for suits. Also I have a fuchsia tie and pocket square which show my Easter spirit. As you notice I chose 1 color and made its presence minimal. Overall Easter Sunday is a day to look forward to for many reasons but as you style yourself for that day make sure you don’t replace the Easter Bunny himself.
